My birthday is tomorrow, but I’ve already gotten three good wishes, and I think I just got my fourth:
My beautiful Angel Wing Begonia flowered for the first time in the five or so years that I’ve owned it! I can’t believe it!
It was originally a gift from my mom, who handed me this pot with a little brown stump in it. It really was just that: a brown stick, I’m not even sure there were any leaves, and she had no idea what the thing was. I loved it and loved it and loved it (how can you not love A POOR LITTLE STUMP?) and eventually it started to pop out these beautiful green leaves with silver spots.
I asked around, checked online, and eventually discovered I had an Angel Wing Begonia. Are you supposed to capitalize plant names? I don’t care. This one deserves it.
It went from stump to stump-with-leaves, and then to MULTIPLE STUMPS, as two more arms reached out of the pot. It’s been growing like that for the last couple of years. I was probably supposed to cut it back, but I didn’t have the heart to. Look at everything it’s accomplished! From little and stumpy to long and leggy! How could I cut any of that back?

it was probably waiting for you to get your camera up and running again. how beautiful.
